Letter to the Ambassadors: Let all nations live! Žive naj vsi narodi!
Respected Excellencies of the United States, France, and Britain! We are addressing you on behalf of many in Slovenia, who find your attempts at justifying the military intervention in Syria appalling and highly disagreeable.
Firstly, Syria does not have a "regime", but an elected President Bashar al-Assad, who is respected by a majority of Syrians. Understand, that Asad's government does not behead gays, does not endanger women with public stoning and allows freedom of religion. In fact, all religious communities in Syria condemn your attack. Yes, Muslims and Christians hand in hand. Syria is an oasis of tolerance compared to Saudi Arabia, where there are no elections, and people are imprisoned for blogging. How come you are not bombing Saudi Arabia or at least writing notes of protest to their regime for serious violations of human rights? Do you know what's happening in neighboring Yemen? Half a million children are starving to death! How is it, that THAT is not a humanitarian crisis worthy of your attention?
Second, it is completely unacceptable to call your use of millions dollars worth of ammunition "humanitarian intervention". You know, Cuba sent doctors and medicine to Syria. That is humanitarian intervention, not bombs. We highly recommend that you follow the Cuban example and replace weapons with medicine and food.
Third, why do you not listen to your former Syrian ambassadors, such as Peter Ford and Craig Murray? Your dear colleagues, who lived with the Syrian people, who wish the people of Syria nothing but the best, and wholly disagree with your aggression. How come you also ignore credible military reports given by your General Jonathan Shaw, who concludes that the Syrian military did not use chemical weapons?
Fourth, we are horrified that you dare to mention chemical weapons, the use of which is the result of the terrible Western and not Eastern military development and history. You, the 'former'' colonialists, are to be blamed for the terrible inequalities and genocides all over the world. Because of your atrocious acts in recent history, you should be more careful with your statements. Compassionate even. At least for another 500 years. To this day, the United States government mistreats and represses Native Americans, whose culture, language and living space have been destroyed. The British have on their conscience the outrageous encroachments in India, Australia, and New Zealand, where the Natives are to this day still the victims of their crimes. France has also terrorized and murdered locals all over Africa, America, and Asia.
How would you like it, if somebody in the name of "humanitarian intervention" bombed Paris, London or New York? We would off course also not agree with that in Slovenia. We would also defend you if you would be misguidedly labeled as "regimes". You can count on us!
Fifth, in Slovenia we afford all nations to live in liberté, égalité, and fraternité, which is also expressed in our national anthem: "Let all nations live!" We also feel that "the less terrible night is in the black earth's embrace, then under the bright sun of the slaver's pits" as our poet France Prešen wrote. Which means that many prefer death to the colonial jackboot, belonging to (for example) the British, Americans and French. As conscious descendants of the National Liberation Struggle (NOB), we fully support the people of Syria in that they have the right to live as they themselves wish. NOT YOU!
Sixth, you are all sincerely invited among us, for a cultural and trade exchange in, for us, the most beautiful country in the world, Slovenia. And As employees of former colonialists, who have never repaid their dues, we strongly suggest, that you show restraint when it comes to repeatedly attacking foreign countries, that never ever endanger you in any way.
