Who exactly is Julian Assange?
Written by: Ariana Ferfila
According to Julian Assange, he has won. According to Assange’s lawyer, he has won. But we need to go back in time and ask the necessary question - why did he speak with the press in the first place if he knows so well the game of the beast? If you have a little insight into today’s politics and business, then one thing is more than obvious; the world has not become better, it has gotten worse. More drama, less politics. More surveillance, less freedom. So what is it in this story of Assange that we are missing? That in the event of 9/11 there is nothing to see?
The UN Human Rights System is in worst shape than ever. It has lost all capability of presiding over global world order. Even more, not only has it shown itself as powerless in defending basic human rights all over the world, but also as a totally obsolete and untrustworthy political body, who is just a puppet of the global elite. Many are questioning themselves: who is paying them today; and why?
All that we can see today, is the fall of democracy, of welfare states, social protection and workers’ rights. We are witnessing the fall of solid banking systems, increasing governmental complaisance, rising of insecurity, oppression and surveillance. So, what exactly has Assange been doing in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for 7 years? He did not put together a proper information editorial hub for independent journalists, a so-called Anonymous News Headquarters or network. If you actually check out this internet page of so-called ''most radical thinkers and doers (IT-hackers)'', you can see that a peace of the puzzle is missing out.
As someone who has insight into global political geostrategic games (and am trying to do my very best in understanding the logic of it), many of the articles published at the Anonymous web page are poorly written, laced with cultural prejudices, and sometimes lacking even the basic predispositions for political history and knowledge how politics has been done for ages. So who exactly is this golden boy, Julian Assange? Who is he really working for, and what exactly are his plans for the future?
Yes. Assange has media coverage and he is a superstar at defending assaulted or killed journalists. For example, when the woman journalist from Malta was murdered during her research of corruption in the top political circles. But, hey! If he would really practice what he preaches, wouldn’t he have already been in contact with her, offering her support in her struggles? And with the dangerous parts of her investigative research? Well, this would just be the logic of a common man.
But maybe Assange is not so common. Perhaps Assange is a bit different. Maybe he is just selling his brand - the mask that he wears on the streets as not to expose his true face. Or possibly Assange is a playboy, showing the poor oppressed youth the way forwards. Perhaps he is just someone preaching to the socially dysfunctional IT children, what life is all about: siting in the dark, feeling miserable, using computers in a proper way and hating this damn unjust world. Well, perhaps.
But the digital era of our corporate masters has not yet even begun. At least there are still some parts of the globe that are not digitally polluted. We at least still have hope, that one day we might win: WE, the people; not them, the corporations.
